A Journey to Venice During Italy at Hand

What an incredible opportunity it was to be invited by the Italian Convention Bureau to attend Italy at Hand, an inspiring event designed specifically for agencies that organise incentive travel. And to top it all off, it was held in Venice. There was no hesitation on my part; this enchanting city has so much more to offer than most people realise.

During six intensive yet unforgettable days, I built valuable connections with a wide range of industry professionals from across Italy. The event brought together not only hotels and DMCs (Destination Management Companies) from Venice, but also representatives from Rome, Milan, Sicily, Naples, and many other regions. It was networking at the highest level.

Alongside the inspiring business meetings, there was also plenty of time to experience the magic of Venice itself. The absolute highlight was the spectacular closing dinner at La Galleria—the very venue where Jeff Bezos celebrated his wedding. Throughout the evening, the many faces of Venice came to life through performances by talented artists and musicians. And then there was the grand finale: a singer delivering an emotional rendition of Andrea Bocelli’s “Con Te Partirò” that genuinely gave everyone goosebumps.

Of course, a trip like this is demanding. Days began at 8:30 in the morning and often continued until 10:30 at night. But staying in some of the most beautiful five-star hotels, enjoying exceptional dining experiences, and travelling through Venice’s famous canals by private water taxi made every moment worthwhile. It was truly a remarkable and unforgettable experience.
